The central message of Bhagavad Gita was re-establishing dharma (righteousness) in face of evil, adharma (lawlessness). Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita explicitly says to save lives of millions if a few are annihilated then no sin is committed.
When facing enemy we just could not practice ahimsa (so-called nonviolence). Lala Lajpat Rai laid down his life practicing nonviolence under British lathies. None else than Mahatma Gandhi was to blame! Lord Krishna says evil must always be faced head-on. We just could not face enemy loaded with AK-47 with principles of nonviolence (ahimsa)!
