We cannot mix spirituality with physical manifest life! It cost Lala Lajpat Rai his life when Mahatma Gandhi mixed politics with religion. In the name of practice of nonviolence (ahimsa) he led British heap lathies on innocent Lala Lajpat Rai and other comrades resulting in their death.
For human beings to reach stage of enlightenment God Almighty ordained a long journey of 1.1 million manifestations in human form. There was never any hurry. However, if we desire emancipating from cycle of birth and death in present life… our indulgence in path of spirituality alone was necessitated.
Normal human beings could never travel both paths successfully. It would be just like riding two boats simultaneously. Only a very accomplished Karma Yogi could accomplish such a feat. For a spiritual person nothing mattered in life except welfare of mankind all the time. A goal of life was there (reaching stage of absolute purity as a soul atman) but it was abstract, hidden from physical manifest life!
If we desire enjoying materialistic life, we can do it wholeheartedly and leave spiritual journey to next life!
