Lord Vishnu lying on a bed of Shesha (thousand headed serpent) allegorically spelt only one crucial meaning on path of pure spirituality… unless human beings realized full awakening of kundalini shakti, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine… one could never gain enlightenment in present life. The serpent in the neck of Lord Shiva also meant the same.
Both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva signify a pure soul atman that emancipated self from cycle of birth and death forever.
