Adi Shesha and Serpent surrounding Neck of Lord Shiva Allegorically mean the same

Both Adi Shesha and serpent surrounding neck of Lord Shiva allegorically mean the same. It simply signifies that unless human beings awakened their kundalini shakti fully, one could not reach stage of an enlightened one. Lord Shiva represents an awakened soul. By practicing absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation human beings can awaken their kundalini shakti fully, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine.

In the Samudra manthan episode, Adi Shesha is used as a coil to churn the ocean of thoughts. This churning of thoughts represents uncoiling kundalini shakti by practice of Brahmacharya Vrata (practice of celibacy). Sexual energy is the most potent of all energies made available to mankind by grace of God Almighty. By channelizing sexual energy one could uncoil kundalini shakti to its fullest potential. The moment this happens, Sahasra Pushpa (thousand petalled Lotus) existing in our brain opens fully. One immediately becomes an enlightened one… a bodhi, a Jina… a Mahavira forever!
