This is not a quote from any book but an absolute fact of cosmic life! Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology represents an enlightened one. The coiled serpent denotes full awakening of kundalini shakti, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine.
Every given moment human beings indulged both in positive and negative thoughts. This churning of thoughts coupled with practice of absolute celibacy always results in production of Vish (poison) and also Amrita (elixir). A serious traveler of spiritual path retains the Vish in the throat and Amrita is used for awakening of kundalini shakti. This whole process is termed Samudra manthan in Hinduism.
While retaining the Vish in throat, some of it leaks into the body rendering it blue. Prime reason why body of Lord Krishna (an avatar of his era) and Lord Shiva is shown dark blue!
Those indulging literally in scriptures could never understand procedure of Samudra manthan! It could only be realized through path of contemplation!
