Bhagavad Gita Castes Varna System

Bhagavad Gita, foremost of all sacred scriptures existing on mother earth never talks anything about castes. Bhagavad Gita has categorized mankind into four classes, categories termed Varnas. Those indulging in religious practices were called Brahmins. The second category consisting of Kshatriyas (nobles) were meant to safeguard boundaries of the country from invasion. The third category consisted of Vaishyas… the trading community. And the fourth Shudras… the servant class!

The Varna system was just a guideline categorizing different types of people into different groups, having nothing to do with caste system.

The teachings of Bhagavad Gita are more spiritual in nature than religious. Anyone world over could easily follow teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita to reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). For following precepts of spirituality in Bhagavad Gita one need not convert to Hinduism. Even while following ones religion, faith or belief one could ceremoniously indulge in Bhagavad Gita to reach God in present life. The teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita were universal in nature.

While following Bhagavad Gita, the problem faced by non-Hindus was not mention of Varna system (not caste system) but travelling path of contemplation, self enquiry… logical reasoning. Working with a bias, prejudice people in West failed to reach inner depth of jnana wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita. The contents of Bhagavad Gita can be followed by one who had 100% faith in God, walked path of truthfulness all the time. On parameter of absolute faith, most in West failed to conceive such levels of faith in god (shraddha in Hinduism). In absence of total faith nothing in Bhagavad Gita could be ever understood.
