As detailed in Bhagavad Gita Brahman, the creator of entire cosmos was the one and only God of Hinduism. As per Advaita Vedanta doctrine propagated by Adi Shankaracharya other than Brahman (God) nothing existed in cosmos. The perceived cosmos was only an act of Maya (veil of illusion).
Lord Shiva was only an attribute of God Almighty, part of Hindu Trinity of gods! As mankind failed to visualize, conceptualize the Nirakaar (having no form), Nirguna (attribute-less) Brahman… it created entity of hordes of gods and goddesses.
