Desires act as fuel for increasing attachments day by day. More the attachments, greater our sufferings! For human beings to reach God, our attachments must reduce to zero. We need indulging in nishkama karma yoga, never attaching self to fruits of karma performed.
Desire for God was like having a lifelong desire to climb Mount Everest. Staying wherever we are, could we ever reach Mount Everest? Desires do not accomplish anything. It is pursuing our passion we accomplished something in life. Mere desires and wishes carried no meaning on path of pure spirituality.
If we desire reaching God in present life, we have to work for it. We have to become truthful in all affairs of life. We have to indulge in nishkama karma yoga all throughout. Only then we could overpower five senses and mind. Negating karma to zero was not that easy. It is only by establishing absolute control over five senses and mind; we cut shackles of karma forever.
To reach God in present life, we need traveling path of introspection, self enquiry as followed and preached by Maharishi Ramana. We could never understand anything in scriptures literally. We need following dictates of sweet small inner voice of our soul atman that seems to come from within our heart. We have to become one with our soul atman to reach God.
If we desire for something and do not achieve it we feel lost resulting in sufferings. By indulging in nishkama karma yoga, by offering fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time… we not only expedited our spiritual journey but also never really suffered in life.
Sufferings directly relate to desires, attachments to everything ephemeral, temporal.
