The prime reason for calling India (erstwhile Bharatvarsha) as karma bhoomi was… it was only from India (present-day Hindustan) that human beings reached stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally moksha salvation.
In Christianity only Jesus Christ reached the stage of enlightenment and in Buddhism only Gautama Buddha. In Islamic Dharma only Prophet Mohammed gained enlightenment in his lifetime. Comparatively in India not hundreds but thousands gained enlightenment in the entire history of mankind!
How one could reach enlightenment is explicitly detailed in scriptures of Hinduism primarily Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads (independent treatises). Even in present times if one was to reach God, one needs following jnana (wisdom) contained in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads.
The philosophy of karma primarily nishkama karma yoga is detailed in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads only. Unless one negates karma to zero, one could never gain enlightenment in ones lifetime. The philosophy of karma, indulgence in karma without attachment to fruits of karma performed is best explained only in scriptures of Hinduism, never otherwise.
The tenets of spirituality following which human beings reached stage of enlightenment are best detailed in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads.
