What is spirituality, the path to realizing self, becoming a pure soul atman in the journey of life! Where does this teaching fit into Buddhism? I have been to Dharamsala several times, only to find Buddhist monks engaged in rituals, nothing more. They had no inkling what spirituality as detailed in Hinduism was all about. Siddhartha Gautama gained enlightenment in his life following teachings of Hinduism contained in Bhagavad Gita, various Upanishads (independent treatises) and Vedas (Hinduism revelations).
After Siddhartha Gautama, none in Buddhism tried to follow path taken by Siddhartha Gautama. In Hinduism there is an absolute belief that every single human being had divinity within to become a man God like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. Even the present precept of Buddhism, the honorable Dalai Lama did not make any efforts to reach stage of Siddhartha Gautama. Why? The core teachings of Hinduism were totally against following a preceptor, spiritual master.
Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism, preceptor) strongly rejected people following him. He admonished followers who adored him. He always advised followers to follow path of pure spirituality to reach stage of enlightenment… become a Jina, a bodhi… a Mahavira in present life. Such practices are nowhere to be found in Buddhism world over. The teachings of Jainism are so deep that people in present times preferred following path of Buddhism, path of rituals.
When Dalai Lama came to my home town, I committed for submitting a paper on Hinduism and Buddhism. But then I realized teachings of Hinduism would surpass thinking of most Buddhists attending the conference. I politely withdrew from the conference and did not send any paper. Wherever world over I interacted with Buddhists, I found them indulging in rituals that carried no meaning on path of pure spirituality. In Buddhism there was only one enlightened one, Siddhartha Gautama.
Hinduism never called a religion but a way of life has produced enlightened ones not in hundreds but many thousands in the entire history of mankind. Hinduism is the foremost of all religions existing from times immemorial, could not be compared to Buddhism, Christianity or Islam Dharma. All the three Buddhism, Christianity and Islamic Dharma developed after teachings of enlightened ones namely Siddhartha Gautama, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed.
In past and even in present no human being could reach stage of enlightenment without indulgence in teachings of Bhagavad Gita, the sermon given to mankind by Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata. Those who outright reject Hinduism or its teachings… how could they be expected to travel spiritual path sincerely and diligently? Becoming an enlightened one, gaining moksha salvation only becomes possible when we followed path of nishkama karma yoga, jnana yoga, and practice of absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation. Furthermore having 100% faith in God was necessitated.
Practice of absolute celibacy for 12 years in continuation was necessitated for full awakening of Kundalini Shakti, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine. The moment our kundalini awakened fully, Sahasra Pushpa (thousand petalled Lotus) existing in our brain behind forehead opened fully. One immediately becomes an enlightened one, gaining emancipation from cycle of birth and death forever.
In simple words path of spirituality means removing dross impurities within our soul atman step-by-step. The moment our karma negated to zero, we reached stage of enlightenment, the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (stage of absolute nothingness), when not a single thought entered our brain uninvoked.
