Literally when a human being reaches stage of enlightenment, we could definitely say one has accomplished everything, finally succeeded in reaching cosmic end of life forever. But for an enlightened one, having gained absolute purity, path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) was only a medium to understand, assimilate hidden underlying cosmic precepts of life contained in scriptures of Hinduism.
On spiritual path we never gained anything in life. Rather we cut dross impurities within our soul atman all the time. The moment our karma negated to zero one reaches stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) forever. The accomplishments of spiritual path were always permanent, one-sided. Once traversed, chances of returning back to material fold of life were nil.
As detailed in Bhagavad Gita, gaining enlightenment in present life means reaching 8.4 millionth manifestation, last in cosmic life cycle. The purpose of a soul atman manifesting human form was reaching stage of absolute purity. This became possible when human beings reached stage of enlightenment by undertaking a spiritual journey.
The moment an enlightened one left mortal frame one gained moksha salvation! The liberated soul atman finally entered kingdom of God (Vaikuntha in Hinduism).
Stage of enlightenment, moksha salvation could never be reached by indulgence in religion (path of rituals). Path of spirituality demands indulgence in contemplation, path of logical reasoning.
