The concept of afterlife, eternal life relates to path of spirituality never religion (path of rituals)! Religion primarily was a means to keep flock of like-minded individuals bonded together. To reach god in present life, to realize God… our undertaking spiritual journey was mandated.
From childhood I followed precepts of Hinduism that not only believes in afterlife (Reincarnation, rebirth) and principles of immortality but also detailed how the precept of afterlife, immortality worked.
As per Hinduism we are primarily a spirit manifesting human form. As a consciousness it manifests human form to work out its karma, remove dross impurities within. The removal of dross impurities within could not be affected in one earthly lifespan… it could be accomplished in a total of 1.1 million manifestations in human form. A soul atman going through different phases of human life was inevitable… the doctrine of afterlife, reincarnation was bound to take effect.
None in this world including God Almighty could remove concept of afterlife from cosmic journey of soul atman. After indulging in spirituality when human beings gained enlightenment and finally moksha salvation, the liberated soul atman finally reaches stage of immortality forever. A soul atman regaining its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form forever is termed immortality.
Ifs and buts carried no meaning in the spiritual world! All precepts of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita were based on truth and only truth.
