Do we remember Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism), Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed in present life? Yes, we do all the time. Only when we engaged in service of mankind all the time could we be remembered for times to come. On the spiritual front we could gain enlightenment, become immortal forever. On the physical manifest front we could become a Marie Curie, discover radium and save lives of millions… become immortal for those whose lives were saved.
