As per Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, Lord Shiva was part of Hindu Trinity… a powerful attribute of God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism). Allegorically Lord Shiva represents a liberated soul atman, one whose kundalini had awakened fully. The serpent in the neck of Lord Shiva represents a fully awakened kundalini.

Metaphorically every single human being who manifest on mother earth after reaching stage of enlightenment, moksha salvation reaches stage of Lord Shiva… a Siddha as per Jainism! As per Jaina philosophy Lord Shiva is also equated to Adinatha, the first Tirthankara!
