Metaphorically Lord Krishna was None other than Soul Atman of Arjuna

Who was Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata between Pandava and Kauravas? Metaphorically Lord Krishna was none other than soul atman of Arjuna. When besieged by the problem of fighting his kith… family members, close relatives and friends… Arjuna expressed total cowardice. He got confused with the definition of Dharma (righteousness). If fighting his own family members was his Dharma of that moment then he was not prepared to indulge in such a fight.

It was at this moment Arjuna contemplated on the deeper spiritual cosmic truths of life. And the moment he realized that he was only an instrument, a body undertaken by soul atman within… he prepared to fight his enemy head-on. Contemplation needs time… sometimes days, sometimes months… even years! As everything contained in Bhagavad Gita was allegorical… more emphasis must be laid on contemplation and never the time period.

In field of pure spirituality we could never assess anything by the time required for one to contemplate and reach the true hidden inner meaning of a fundamental truth of life. None in this world could tell with conviction how much time was required to reach stage of enlightenment. The process varies from individual to individual. Some may succeed doing it in present life like Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana and others may take many lifetimes before they reached stage of enlightenment.

On path of pure spirituality we were forbidden to indulge in fruits of karma performed. Traveling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) and nishkama karma yoga human beings scaled higher realms of spirituality slowly but successfully.
