The most hardest part that we had to let go while indulging in yoga meditation was Moha (extreme emotional attachment) we had towards our parents, brothers and sisters… close relatives and friends. We could practically kill everything… every other relationship but decimating family ties was a really difficult job even for an established seeker.

Siddhartha Gautama just by touching feet of wife and child thought he could absolve self of bondages of karma, familial ties. Karma needs to be burnt in totality from within. The most difficult part of karma to cut in this life was family ties… close earthly bondages. Only a very ardent traveler of spiritual path like Swami Vivekananda succeeds in that.

For a serious seeker the whole world finally becomes one large extended family. In such circumstances to relate to family members was meaningless. Meditation demands negating karma to zero in totality. This happens when we overpowered karma by establishing total control over five senses and mind.

In the battle of Mahabharata, the biggest dilemma of Arjuna was not willing to fight his maternal grandfather Bhishma Pitamah, Guru Dronacharya… close relatives and friends. Arjuna was overcome with cowardice when facing his arch enemies Kauravas. Even though his maternal grandfather and guru sided with adharma (lawlessness), the evil Kauravas… yet Arjuna was not prepared to fight them.

When Lord Krishna imparted to Arjuna the wisdom of Bhagavad Gita… Arjuna realized his folly. Believing that he was primarily a soul atman and not the bodily manifest physical form… Arjuna prepared himself to fight the Kauravas head-on.
