Lord Vishnu is only an attribute of God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism). As detailed in Bhagavad Gita Brahman (God) was the only truth of life… nothing other than Brahman existed in entire cosmos.
Lord Krishna, born ordinary mortal manifest supernatural powers… that made him an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form)! An avatar is a lethal combination of a man god (enlightened one) and Chanakya, the most able administrator in the entire history of mankind. To save lives of millions of countrymen and soldiers Chanakya got 100 kings eliminated in one night.
Lord Krishna, manifest the mantle of an avatar to cleanse the society of its ills… re-establish dharma (righteousness) on mother earth. Lord Krishna was Dharmaraja (King of dharma). When society reaches its lowest ebb… advents an avatar of that era!
Allegorically Lord Krishna is soul atman existing in human body. Traveling path of spirituality, yoga meditation human beings could realize their true inner self existing in our heart as our soul atman.
Lord Krishna is always depicted as sarthi (charioteer) of the chariot (human body) belonging to Arjuna.
