The only two names that stand out in the entire history of mankind were those of Gargi, the philosopher saint and Maitreyi the second dutiful wife of Sage Yajnavalkya (composer and compiler of most voluminous brihadaranyaka Upanishad). These two ladies finally succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment and in their remembrance the two famous Gargi and Maitreyi colleges in New Delhi exist.
