Understand Essence of Bhagavad Gita

The contents of Bhagavad Gita can only be understood following path of contemplation, path of logical reasoning. Even an enlightened one could never preach Bhagavad Gita. The contents of Bhagavad Gita need assimilation from within. Through indulgence in Bhagavad Gita we are trying to reach our true inner self… our soul atman, the spirit within that seem to reside in our heart.

Indulgence in Bhagavad Gita was the path, the ultimate goal of life all time remaining stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). One should not indulge in Bhagavad Gita if our goal of life was not reaching stage of enlightenment in present life. Contents of Bhagavad Gita could only be understood via path of spirituality and journey of spirituality is always a one-way path.

I know many who started their journey towards God only to quit midway. They became serious patients of depression. If millions travelled path of religion (path of rituals), only limited few followed path of pure spirituality, as detailed in Bhagavad Gita. Spirituality demands highest level of perfection that could ever be practiced by human beings, which in present times of Kali Yuga seemed difficult in practice.

At a starter level one could still indulge in commentaries of Bhagavad Gita by Jayadayal Goyandka or Swami Ramsukhdas from Gita press, Gorakhpur, India. The original preaching of Bhagavad Gita with English or Hindi transliteration is also available with Gita press. One can indulge depending on availability of time. Maximum indulgence, maximum stress must always be on contemplation, never literal reading. Lying in shavasna pose of yoga, I always indulged in path of self enquiry (path of Neti… not this, not this) as preached and advocated by Maharishi Ramana one who reached God in present life.

All sorts of choices are available but the path lay in our jurisdiction.
