God, the creator of entire cosmos was one and only one called Brahman in Hinduism. We as human beings and also as a soul atman exist as God Almighty exists. As a soul atman, the spirit we were part of God Almighty. If an individual grain of sand is an independent soul atman, the whole mound God Almighty, Brahman. The most sacred scripture of Hinduism on mother earth Bhagavad Gita and also Upanishads (independent treatises) were absolutely clear on this point of Hindu philosophy.
In the sermon of Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna says one should worship only Brahman, never the attributes of God Almighty… hordes of gods and goddesses, part of Hinduism mythology. Those indulging in spirituality not religion clearly understood what Brahman in Hinduism stood for. Those indulging in religious practices (rituals) prayed, worshipped various attributes of God Almighty.
Those interested in money wealth prayed to goddess Laxmi, those desiring general welfare to Lord Ganesha and so on. One could realize God traveling path of spirituality never religion.
