If we look at the whole scenario of evolution, karma and reincarnation (rebirth)… everything becomes crystal clear. We were primarily a spiritual being manifesting human form. As a soul atman we manifest human form to work out our karma, remove dross impurities within.
After death of human body the released soul atman immediately manifests a new body to start new journey of life. This process of reincarnation, rebirth was based on residual balance of karma at the time of death. It is a misnomer that parents choose their child. The vice versa was true. It is a child that chooses its parents. Based on residual balance of karma at the time of death our soul atman manifest a new form in the family where the karmic balances matched.
If the residual balance of karma at the time of death demands our soul atman manifesting form of a laborer in next life, we just could not be born a Prince. A child born in the family would have the natural trait of excelling in the field of the parents. This was not so every given moment of life. What if my best friend in present life or my elder brother; whose death occurred at my hands in previous manifestation would be the cause of my death in present manifestation! In this case the karmic bonding existed but matching was not there. Maybe the brother or friend excelled in chemistry and we in math.
From philosophic spiritual point of view, we must never indulge in past. Whatever we desire in present life, whatever the child desires from within must be followed. People gained absolute success in life only when we pursued something dear to our heart, a passion that comes from within.
