Spiritually awakened soul means a soul atman reaching stage of absolute purity! This becomes a reality when human beings traveling path of spirituality, indulging in yoga meditation gained enlightenment in their lifetime. Karma negated to zero, one finally emancipates from cycle of birth and death forever.
Dominated by ego human beings failed to realize presence of soul atman within their heart! Traveling path of spirituality human beings finally realized their true inner self becoming a pure soul atman at the end of cosmic journey. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita we were primarily a spiritual being manifesting human form. To cleanse self of dross impurities within every soul atman manifested human form.
Right from Lord Krishna to Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed and in recent times Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana fall in category of spirituality awakened souls. Even Adi Shankaracharya and saints like Sant Tukaram, Eknath, Namdev, Samarth Ramdas, Kabirdas, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Jnaneshwar fall in this category.
We as a soul atman realized self only through path of spirituality never religion (path of rituals)!
