Spiritual awakening is a very slow long drawn process. To reach stage of enlightenment in one lifetime was nothing short of a miracle. God Almighty ordained a long journey of 1.1 million manifestations in human form to reach stage of enlightenment.
Control over five senses and mind is not established that easily… prime reason why in last 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over, only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching God.
For full awakening of kundalini shakti, practice of absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation was necessitated. Not a single lapse was permitted lest we repeat the process from the beginning. Sage Vishwamitra, a highly accomplished Sage of his era on sighting a maiden woman taking bath in forlorn circumstances in deep dense jungles (forests) fell from grace. He had to repeat practice of absolute celibacy all over again.
All Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism), Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed indulged in path of spirituality detailed in Bhagavad Gita to reach God in present life… stage of enlightenment and finally salvation moksha.
Jainism and Buddhist scriptures deny existence of God but absolute facts of life were otherwise. Unless we believed in God, unless we believed in existence of souls atmans… one could never reach stage of enlightenment. After all we were a soul atman, a consciousness manifesting human form to work out our karma, remove dross impurities within. If an individual grain of sand is an independent soul atman, the whole mound God Almighty. We were part of God Almighty all the time, how could we deny his existence?
