All the following three religions (Dharma) evolved as a following of an enlightened one… Islamic Dharma after Prophet Mohammed, Christianity after Jesus Christ and Buddhism after Gautama Buddha! All the three… Prophet Mohammed, Jesus Christ and Gautama Buddha succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment after indulgence in Vedas (Hinduism revelations), Upanishads (independent treatises) and Bhagavad Gita. None in this world could gain enlightenment in absence of teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita. Hinduism is one religion that could never be compared to other religions existing in this world.
Jainism primarily believes in a chain of preceptors (Tirthankaras) numbering 24. Theoretically Jainism scriptures do not believe in God. A religion that does not believe in God could never explain precepts of spirituality as detailed in Bhagavad Gita. The interpretation by Jain academicians that Jainism does not believe in God was flawed. Born in Jainism religion, I have yet to find a Jain who does not believe in existence of God! As of now Jainism is quite an orthodox religion.
None wants to believe in absolute facts of life contained in Bhagavad Gita. The biggest anomaly lay in the fact that followers of Jainism believed Lord Krishna existed in naraka (Hell). Lord Krishna was an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form)… much above the level of a Tirthankara! Even though a Jain by birth, from six years of age I believed more in principles of spirituality detailed in Bhagavad Gita than interpretations of Jaina scriptural texts.
From six years of age I have been a believer of absolute truth… Jainism or Hinduism never mattered! I believed more in a theory that was dear to my heart… more logical, convincing from within!
