Reincarnation a spiritual precept, fact of life explains about continuity of life in cosmic system. In absence of reincarnation life could not exist in cosmic system. After death of present body… our soul atman, the spirit within again manifests a new body based on residual balance of karma at the time of death.
We can never know exactly the form our soul atman, the consciousness within would manifest in next life but our karma of present life is governing. As the residual balance of karma at the time of death of body, accordingly manifests the new body. If the residual balance of karma demands our soul atman manifesting form of a laborer in next life one just could not be born a Prince.
If we desire manifesting a higher level in next life we must indulge in good karma, positive karma in present life most of time. We can truly dictate our future by indulgence in good karma in present.
As per beliefs of Jainism, the soul atman of a human form could again manifest animal form if the residual balance of karma at the time of death demands so. In cases like Hitler who orchestrated death of millions of Jews, the soul atman of Hitler would manifest form of an animal or even lower form of life.
Why indulge in negative karma and mar our present and future.
