When a student in class one promotes to class two, what does it carry forward? Similar was the case with a soul atman! A soul does not enter a human body. The entire lifespan of 8.4 million manifestations in the life of a soul atman was one single journey of life… totally unbroken, uninterrupted! After death of present body our soul atman immediately manifests a new body to start new journey of life.
The moment a student of class one promotes to class two, he sheds all old copies and books and collects a new set of copies and books. If necessary one also sheds old clothes for new ones! The student remaining the same, one promotes from class one to class two. The soul atman remaining the same, it keeps changing body after another.
Only the residual balance of karma gets transferred to next life. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads (independent treatises)… the closing balance of present life at the time of death becomes opening balance for next manifestation. The life of human beings exactly runs like the balance sheet of an accountant. If the residual balance of karma at the time of death demands one manifesting form of a laborer in next life, one just could not be born a Prince!
The karma of an individual could not be defined in exact detail as all features of life come under karma. Nothing tangible transfers to next life but residual balance of karma! All our spiritual advancement gets carried forward in toto. At whatever level we leave in present life, we could continue our journey from the same level in next manifestation. All intelligence, jnana wisdom gained by one forms part of karma!
