Stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi was not that easily reached. Mahavira stood on a hillock for 12 years in continuation to reach stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Siddhartha Gautama sat under a bodhi tree for a period of 12 years to reach stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Remaining in state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi permanently announces one becoming an enlightened one forever.
Nirvikalpa Samadhi (state of absolute nothingness) when not a single thought entered our brain uninvoked! This stage is reached when we overcame five senses and mind forever. The culmination point of indulgence in yoga meditation, stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi is the end goal of spiritual life. There was never a defined technique in yoga meditation to reach stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. The whole journey of spirituality was covered through hit and trial.
There were certain prerequisites to reaching stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi –
1. We must be 100% truthful.
2. We must possess 100% faith in God.
3. We must learn to distinguish spirituality from religion.
4. We must be able to travel path of nishkama karma yoga successfully.
5. We must be able to travel path of jnana yoga successfully. Only then we could indulge in scriptures! Literally we could never understand anything in scriptures.
6. We should be able to practice absolute celibacy for a period of 12 years in continuation.
We must be able to indulge in contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning all the time. Only then we could subdue our ego in totality, overpower five senses and mind! Negation of karma to zero needs time.
