The word mystic is synonymous with seeker. One who searches for intangible cosmic truths of life through path of contemplation, logical reasoning was a true traveler of spiritual path… a seeker, a mystic. When a seeker reaches its logical end in Hinduism one is called a Sage or a Rishi. Both Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana were sages of present era.
For a mystic in the initial stages of existence, was God (Brahman), the unmanifest creator. With occurrence of big bang God Almighty (Brahman) manifest itself all through cosmos which confirms the saying God is everywhere. God Almighty, cluster of all pure food atmans in cosmos explodes itself to form present cosmos. And starts cosmic life cycle of every soul atman, the spirit within!
A serious mystic indulged in teachings of Bhagavad Gita to reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) in present life. Enlightenment could never be gained through any other path other than Bhagavad Gita. For a mystic the present physical manifest world was temporal, ephemeral. The real essence of life rested with souls’ atmans that manifested human form to work out its karma, remove dross impurities within.
Becoming free from bondage of life and death is the ultimate goal of life for every mystic. This becomes possible when overpowering five senses and mind one successfully negates karma to zero. A mystic always works with an unattached attitude never linking self to fruits of karma performed. Travelling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) a mystic finally unveils spiritual precepts of life contained in scriptures.
Full kundalini awakening announces cosmic journey of life for a mystic finally coming to an end.
Hinduism has no concept like that of saints in Christianity. It is not within powers of masses to judge an enlightened one. When an enlightened one rises, the aura spreads world over of its own.
