Indulging in Contemplation Meditation The Hinduism Way

Contemplation in no way relates to thinking. Contemplation is the art of separating right from wrong, truth from false. If I were given a book that contained both truthful and false precepts of life and with none to guide I would use my power of discrimination to distinguish right from wrong. This faculty of discrimination is not that easily exercised. Those with a bloated ego failed to exercise this power of discrimination.

Separating truth from false became easier if we travelled path of truthfulness all the time. On path of pure spirituality, on path of yoga meditation we had to reach hidden underlying cosmic precepts of life contained in scriptures of different religions of world. If we were truthful, we could easily identify, reach those hidden underlying precepts of cosmic truth following which human beings gained enlightenment.

Contemplation also means separating essence from junk. Indulgence in yoga meditation means establishing absolute control over five senses and mind! How do we establish control over senses? Through path of contemplation, introspection we separated usable from the rest. Anything that was necessitated on path of pure spirituality was usable, rest all junk.

If I had a fondness for ice creams, through path of contemplation, logical reasoning, introspection I would query self why I was eating ice cream, why the fondness? Was it necessary or I could just leave the habit. The deeper I go I realize that eating ice cream was not beneficial on path of pure spirituality and hence I could quit my habit of eating ice cream. Anything that was not necessitated on path of pure spirituality had to be abandoned in totality. I had to indulge in all eatables with an unattached attitude.

I had to let go all my desires, wishes to establish absolute control over power of attachment. Working with an unattached attitude I finally let go my liking for ice cream, sweets, chocolates and many more items. It is more than 30 years I have not tasted these items as they were not necessary on path of pure spirituality. Only if someone close insisted I ate that item with an unattached attitude. Slowly I established absolute control over five senses. No sooner that happened control over mind power came by itself.

The scriptures of Hinduism were varied. The collection so large that it was almost impossible to cover them all in one lifetime! Using my power of discrimination I could distinguish false from truth. In a short time I could separate Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads (independent treatises) from the rest of scriptures. I was not wrong in my surmise. Following 700 shlokas verses contained in Bhagavad Gita alone any human being world over could easily reach stage of enlightenment in ones lifetime.

No other scripture of Hinduism was necessitated for travelling path of spirituality successfully. While indulging in self enquiry… Neti (not this, not this) we had to indulge in contemplation every second of life. Was air god… no, why not? Was water god… no, why not? Was sunlight god … no, why not? By introspection, indulging in contemplation I realized that sunlight was not god but it was intimately connected to god. With passage of time I finally realized that both heaven and hell existed in sun.

When matching parents were not available on mother earth after death of human form, the released soul atman hibernated in heaven or hell. For a soul atman to survive it needs millions of degrees centigrade temperature. This became possible only when souls atmans existed in core of sun. I finally realized that heaven (swarga) existed in core of sun. Hell existed in periphery of sun where temperatures were considerably less. It was in such low temperatures our soul atman suffered for eternity.

Based on above analogy and example I negated everything in cosmos and what finally remained was God Almighty in all its glory (Brahman in Hinduism). Path of self enquiry, Neti (not this, not this) followed and advocated by Maharishi Ramana was not only a foolproof method of reaching God in present life but also a shortcut path. Path of contemplation is a long drawn slow process. I took full 25 years of yoga meditation to reach stage of self realization, god realization.

Dross impurities within negated forever I finally become a pure soul atman in the cosmic journey of life. I finally reached 8.4 millionth manifestation, last in cosmic life cycle.

Stage of self realization, god realization means reaching stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (stage of absolute nothingness) when not a single thought entered our brain uninvoked. This stage of absolute bliss can never be expressed in words. It was beyond all comprehension, all syllable… every form of script. This is the time when one can have a communion with god on one-to-one basis.

Path of contemplation is best detailed in scriptures of Hinduism primarily Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads.
