When I was young I preferred company of elders in the family. I developed a habit of listening to their stories before going to bed. At that young age I may not have realized the true meaning of all stories but within my interior I was forming my absolute goal of life. By six years of age I started searching for god.
The meaning of life is explicitly detailed in Bhagavad Gita the sermon given to mankind by Lord Krishna. As per Bhagavad Gita we were a spirit, a soul atman that needs gaining purification from within. It manifests human form to work out its karma. Manifestation after manifestation life evolves and human beings reached higher brackets of spiritual pursuit. Finally one day the human being decides what one wants from life. At nine years of age I wanted liberation from cycle of birth and death forever.
Once our goal of life was clear, we can pursue that path. If we did not want to indulge in spirituality we could pursue a materialistic goal in life. If our goal of life was spiritual then we must adhere to dictates of soul atman coming from within. Our soul atman, the consciousness resided in our heart. Our soul atman from the very first manifestation desires regaining its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form. This happens when human beings traveling path of spirituality, indulging in yoga meditation reached stage of enlightenment and finally moksha salvation.
We could tell our children that every single human being on mother earth has to become an enlightened one like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. There was at all no escape from this ultimate goal of life. We could undertake spiritual journey in present life or leave it to next manifestation. In the human form we had a chain of 1.1 million manifestations. We do not know between karmic index of 7,300,001 and 8,400,000, where we stood! Becoming an enlightened one means reaching 8.4 millionth manifestation, last in cosmic life cycle!
The gist of Bhagavad Gita would not become clear to children in one go. When we tell them that we were a spiritual being manifesting human body, they would just be awed! Unable to fathom everything literally, children would take their time and ask again and again. This was how our mental capacity evolved!
