More than color, do we not desire knowing why Lord Krishna is always depicted in dark grayish blue color? Lord Krishna was an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form). Such a stage in human form can only be realized when seeker indulged in welfare of entire mankind from very beginning of life. In doing so, the seeker has to repeatedly cleanse the society of its ills.
All the kleshas, negative thoughts precipitate in form of strong poison. This poison has to be retained by seeker in body or in neck. Prime reason why body of Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva is always shown dark grayish blue in color! If Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa died of throat cancer, it was only to heal a follower suffering from throat cancer. He exchanged the malady of his follower with his perfect throat.
For an enlightened one everything was possible.
