Must we ever indulge in scriptures literally? Krishna displaying whole cosmos in his mouth is an allegorical statement. It simply signifies that an avatar who understands everything relating to cosmos can impart teachings of Bhagavad Gita to mankind to reach stage of enlightenment, moksha salvation! Everything relating to origin of cosmos could not be visualized by commoners, masses. Krishna doing so proves that not only he was an enlightened one but also an avatar (God manifest in human form).
When indulging in Krishna or Bhagavad Gita our concentration must be on cosmic truths of life contained in Bhagavad Gita. Only then we could successfully travel path of spirituality, yoga meditation to reach God in present life time. Indulging in contemplation we could know everything contained in Bhagavad Gita. Lord Krishna being sarthi (charioteer) of the chariot (human body) belonging to Arjuna simply means… even though Lord Krishna was all-powerful; he always acted through a medium.
In Mahabharata, the medium for Lord Krishna was Arjuna, one who finally gained enlightenment after hearing sermon of Bhagavad Gita!
