The talent that exists in a child was inherent from previous birth, manifestation. An expert in automobiles when dies a normal death… what do we expect the soul atman of this automobile expert would manifest in next life… certainly a brilliant child knowing intricacies of automobile industry from beginning of life.
After death of human body what transfers to next life was residual balance of karma. The closing balance of present life becomes opening balance for next manifestation! If the residual balance of karma at the time of death demands our soul atman manifesting form of a laborer in next life, one just could not be born a Prince. It is a child that always chooses its parents and not vice versa.
