Living in the present simply means living the moment as if there was no past or future. In the present if we worry about past or future, in all likelihood we would miss everything in the present!
To an intelligent person who had an absolute goal of life, preparation for future did not seem to exist. One was after achieving that goal all time.
From six years of age my goal of life practically was reaching God. At that young age I did not know what God meant, reaching him was something like fathoming the unknown! Still my goal of life was fixed from nine years of age. Come whatever may, I would never change this goal of life. Whether I accomplish this goal in present life or not was not the criteria, but I must never fail in my efforts.
Every day came with a brighter promise. Putting all eggs in my basket I pursued this only goal of life. I concentrated all my energies behind that single goal of life. When I completed my schooling, college… graduation… got married, have two beautiful daughters were all the time secondary, my primary goal of life was reaching God in present life. 31 years of indulgence in yoga meditation, path of spirituality I finally reached God in the wee hours of third of August 1993 37 years of age.
If necessary I recalled past events. If necessary I also looked into the future but not for a moment did I lose living the present. Every second of life I was concentrated on God. I indulged in yoga meditation via path of contemplation. Even while jogging, walking, standing… swimming, indulging in business I continued my indulgence in contemplation all the time. Once in the evening when I asked my mother for dinner, she looked at me with a twinkle in her eye and said it is morning and time for breakfast!
I was so engrossed in thoughts of God Almighty that almost 12 hours had passed and I was not aware of the same.
