Indians Tolerant since inception of Religion Hinduism Main Teachings

The teachings our forefathers gave to us were responsible for our upbringing… our tolerant attitude! Why and how? From the beginning of life, when young in age… our books consisted of narrations that made us believe that we were primarily a soul atman, the consciousness within! As a soul atman, we manifested present human body to work out its karma… remove dross impurities within!

With the result, Indian population, followers of Hinduism started living cosmic life, neglecting the present physical manifest human form! The same is evident when we look at their faces… a feeling of gloom… totally in contrast with feeling of gleam reflecting from faces of Westerners! People in West lived day-to-day life… the best possible! Indians always lived for many generations ahead except the present!

What use travelling such a path of spirituality where there was gloom all around! Even though most Westerners were unaware of teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita… but they all the time followed principles of day-to-day life expressed in Bhagavad Gita! For the sake of tomorrow, future… we just could not sacrifice our present! Tolerant does not mean becoming a coward at the end of journey!

We were tolerant even in face of adversities… when Mughal invaders from West attacked India! Result… we became slave of barbaric Mughal empire. Even when British forces rained bullets and lathies on innocent Indian civilians… we were innocent onlookers of the ghastly crime! This is not what toleration is all about. We just could not mix religion with politics. Chanakya Niti clearly says… in face of adversities… we must bang the invaders head-on and in that he all the time succeeded!

The world tolerant must only be used in religious context… never politics! We are a tolerant nation… because we are an amalgamation of different cultures, faith and beliefs… something that does not exist anywhere in this world! All religions existing in India were primarily tolerant of each other. It was only a game play of politicians that situations sometimes go out of hand! Commoners, masses in general lived in peace. One did not care what religion other followed or belonged to!

It is general practice in India; whenever someone wronged us… we tend to forgive one! Forgiveness… a feeling of compassion is a religious concept! As stated by Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism… preceptor)… we must Live and let Live! For maintaining a harmonious relationship amongst various species of life… this principle was devised. But humans started using this concept in day-to-day affairs of life! It is good… extremely good if we forgive the wrongdoer but not all the time.
