Hinduism scriptures detail everything relating to world of souls atmans and moksha.
We were primarily a spiritual being manifesting human form. As a soul atman we manifest human form to work out our karma, remove dross impurities within! When death occurred, the released soul atman again manifest, a new body to start new journey of life! When matching parents were not available on mother earth the soul atman hibernated in hell if the residual balance of karma at the time of death was negative. Hell existed in the periphery of sun.
Going to heaven or hell was not a matter of choice for human beings. It was exclusively a place for hibernation of souls’ atmans when matching parents were not available on mother earth.
Reaching stage of moksha becomes possible when human beings indulged in spirituality, yoga meditation to reach stage of enlightenment. The moment an enlightened one left mortal frame… one gains moksha salvation, liberation from cycle of birth and death forever!
