As per scriptures of Hinduism both heaven and hell (swarga and naraka) are located in sun, heaven in the periphery of sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade. It was in such high temperatures our soul atman felt comfortable. Hell exists in periphery of sun where temperatures were considerably less; it was in such low temperatures our soul atman suffered for eternity.
Both heaven and hell are places where human beings could never go bodily. Heaven and hell are places for hibernation of souls’ atmans when matching parents are not available on mother earth. After death of present body, our soul atman immediately manifests a new body to start new journey of life. If matching parents are not available, the soul atman hibernates in heaven (swarga) or hell (naraka). In heaven if the residual balance of karma at the time of death was positive and hell, if negative!
No sooner matching parents become available on mother earth, the hibernating soul atman immediately manifests a new body to start new cycle of life. This cycle of life continued until human beings reached stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana).
