As detailed by Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, God was one and only one termed Brahman in Hinduism. As per Bhagavad Gita nothing other than God existed in cosmic system. All other gods and goddesses including Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva were attributes of God Almighty, nothing more.
As per Bhagavad Gita, to reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) mere belief in existence of God was not enough; our possessing 100% faith in God was an absolute must. To unveil hidden underlying precepts of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita 100% belief in God was necessitated.
If we did not believe in existence of God, our travelling path of pure spirituality was meaningless as it would not yield any result. It was only 100% faith in God from six years of age that I reached God in present life. For unbelievers life exists as usual, but for believers life existed in a totally new dimension.
Unless we had firm belief in God, our prayers, worship would not be answered by God Almighty. Even for living physical manifest life in an orderly manner, firm belief in God was necessary. Travelling path of religion (rituals) one never reached God. God was not a physical entity; it neither manifested Sakaar form (having a form). God Almighty was magnanimous primordial cosmic energy, size of half a thumb.
We need becoming a theist to understand principles of life contained in Bhagavad Gita. If we did not believe in existence of God, how could we believe existence of souls’ atmans? As per Bhagavad Gita we were primarily a soul atman, the consciousness within. Belief in God confirmed our belief in souls’ atmans. Indulgence in Bhagavad Gita simply means reaching our true inner self, our soul atman, the spirit within.
In absence of full faith in God, no wonder how many times we read Bhagavad Gita, nothing became clear. By believing in God, by believing in self I could hear the sweet small inner voice of my soul atman that seemed to come from within my heart. It is following voice of my soul atman I finally reached God.
