If our goal in life was climbing Mount Everest, would it matter how many already climbed to the top! Working with a biased look, we reached nowhere. Before Siddhartha Gautama was born not in hundreds but thousands in erstwhile Bharatvarsha (now India) reached enlightenment in their lifetime!
As ordained by God Almighty in a time period of 100 to 200 years a maximum of one or two persons could gain enlightenment. What if 50 Gautama Buddha came simultaneously. It would be chaos world over, whom to worship or not. Mahavira and Gautama Buddha were contemporaries and so were Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana.
In the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment and finally moksha salvation.
