For life to evolve, presence of consciousness, a spirit in the body was essential. In absence of consciousness… the human body was as good as dead. The human brain in itself was inert matter. It was active because of presence of consciousness in our heart.
Hinduism scriptures say… it is our soul atman, the consciousness present in heart that manifested human body to work out its karma, remove dross impurities within. The human body was not competent to manifest a soul atman, the consciousness within. The vice versa was true.
The moment consciousness within human body leaves forever; the human body becomes dead… inert matter!
The whole purpose of cosmic life was evolution of soul atman within. Body after body the soul atman cleanses self of dross impurities within. Moment a soul atman reaches stage of absolute purity, in absence of dross impurities within it need not manifest a body again. This consciousness (soul atman) finally liberates forever gaining entry into kingdom of God (Vaikuntha in Hinduism).
From evolution point of view human beings would keep evolving until consciousness within gains absolute purity.
