Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita explicitly says creator of entire cosmos, God was one and only one… Brahman in Hinduism! Rest all were attributes of God Almighty including all gods and goddesses. Even Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, part of Hindu Trinity were attributes of Brahman.
To reach stage of enlightenment, our indulgence with Brahman was necessitated. One could never reach God via path of religion (path of rituals). In present times path of bhakti yoga alone did not suffice, one needs traveling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) and nishkama karma yoga to reach god.
Judgement of God in terms of best was totally misplaced. It is not within capacity of human beings to judge Brahman, the one and only God.
