Vishnu Purana formed part of Hindu mythology. Stories in mythology were parables to explain hidden deeper meaning of life. Direct references to big bang theory are contained in more authentic scriptures of Hinduism like Upanishads (independent treatises). As detailed in Upanishads the present cosmos came into being when God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism), size of half a thumb exploded self with a big bang.
The precepts of big bang exist in scriptures of Hinduism from beginning of time. Everything from A to Z of spirituality… right from stage of big bang to dissolution of cosmos (Pralaya in Hinduism) is explicitly detailed in Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads (independent treatises) and Vedas (Hinduism revelations). We only need contemplating to reach the hidden underlying cosmic truth of life.
