Teachings of Srimad Bhagavad Gita in Daily Life

The teachings of Bhagavad Gita were never meant for normal life. One should indulge in Bhagavad Gita only if our goal of life was reaching God in present life. We just could not ride two boats at the same time. We need concentrating our efforts behind a single goal of life.

The most primary teaching of Bhagavad Gita that could be used in daily routines of life was indulgence in nishkama karma yoga. Indulgence in karma yoga nishkama karma way of life, offering fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time. As our present journey of life belonged to our soul atman, fruits of karma performed by human beings also belonged to our soul atman.

We can indulge in nishkama karma yoga as indulged by King Janaka (father of Sita in Ramayana) and JRD Tata (the erstwhile scion of Tata Empire). Both these karma yogis par excellence believed in trusteeship concept of life. According to them we were only a custodian, caretaker in the journey of life taking care of things that already belonged to God Almighty.

Indulgence in nishkama karma way of life also helps subdue our bloated ego.
