When discussing of boon or curse in Hinduism we must bear one thing in mind! If an accomplished Sage puts a curse on someone… whatever the negative effect of that, half of that would be born by the Sage who put the curse. In yesteryears many sages and Rishis in their anger cursed people, seekers out of ignorance. They finally suffered for their misdeeds.
An accomplished Sage or a Rishi could not give a boon but only blessings to one or wished welfare of others. All stories in mythology relating to boons given by sages and Rishis were a misnomer. The most popular boon given in history of mankind was that between King Dasharatha and Kaikeyi. It is because of this boon given by King Dasharatha to Kaikeyi… Maryada Purushottam Rama was finally exiled for a period of 14 years, banished to jungles.
Accomplished sages and people in authoritative seats must never indulge in boon giving for boon giving mostly results in miseries untold.
