Over indulgence in physical relationship and material success – the interrelationship ! 2

Many people indulged in excessive physical relationship and simultaneously enjoyed materialistic pursuits of life! On the contrary, those pursuing Adhyatma, practicing Brahmacharya suffered badly at the hands of destiny, lacking in material possessions at every stage of life. This can be openly witnessed in the Western culture where sex was never a taboo nor sign of lackadaisical behavior. On the contrary, people were over enthusiastic.

First, we shall go into practice of Brahmacharya. Practicing Brahmacharya demands minimal intelligence in a sexual relationship so as to preserve the vital elixir of life, called Amrita in Hinduism Scriptures. This Amrita is essential for awakening of kundalini shakti, the cosmic energy lying dormant in the base of spine. Detachment from a sexual relationship is vital for Adhyatmic progress.

The term Brahmacharya is broadly misunderstood by most practitioners of Adhyatma. Abstaining from a physical relationship constitutes hardly 5% practice of Brahmacharya, whereas 95% Brahmacharya is practiced mentally. Stopping flow of negative thoughts to our brain in totality is what Brahmacharya all about. Seems simple yet extremely difficult to practice!

In the Western world where indulging in a physical relationship is rampant, it is almost impossible for them to awaken kundalini. Unless we channelize Amrita towards kundalini awakening, Adhyatmic progress would almost be nil. In the Western world where 5% practice of Brahmacharya is missing, they are able to channelize all their energies towards a physical goal of life. And hence we witness phenomenal material progress.

Comparatively in Bharat, most pursuers of Adhyatma were not as truthful as their Western counterparts. This lack of Truthfulness resulted in wasted efforts. They failed to channelize all their energies behind material pursuits of life. Furthermore, as the absolute goal of life of every sadhaka was channelising all their energies towards kundalini awakening, material success in life was never ordained by Brahm. For a seeker, the physical body itself was a garb for Atman! Material success always was secondary!

For a true seeker, material possessions were of little value, hence the sufferings! If we minutely observe from the times of Rama to Krishna, to Mahavira – we shall find almost zero existence of material wealth. Some may say, Rama was born a prince and so was Mahavira but the moment both Rama and Mahavira started pursuing Adhyatma as their goal of life, material pursuits vanished from their lives. They practically lived life of non-indulgence.

For a true seeker material possessions carried no significance. But if the seeker had a family, in absence of material wealth, the family definitely suffered a lot. There was simply no escape from such a situation. Even Brahm simply acted as an onlooker! Material possessions always give superficial happiness! The super Ananda experienced by a seeker always came from within. There was nothing material to gloat on.

From above writing, I am able to confer below facts:
    1. Physical Brahmacharya constitute 5% and Mental Brahmacharya constitute 95% of Brahmacharya(i.e. Transmutation of sexual energy)
    2. Even though materialistic westerners doesn’t follow 5% physical Brahmacharya, they do follow most portion of 95% of brahmacharya for material pursuits coupled with truthfulness in day-to-day life(and positive attitude). That’s why they succeed in material pursuits.
    3. Average Adhyatmik person( in Bharat), try to follow physical Brahmacharya which is 5%, while they fail to follow mental Brahmacharya which is 95%, due to lack of practice of truthfulness and also due to failure to prevent negative thoughts coming into his mind. While some westerners successfully prevented inflow of negative thoughts in their pursuits.Hence, they succeed.
    4. Adhyatmik sadhak, who follows Brahmacharya for Self realization, do not have desire for material pursuits. Hence this adhyatmik person don’t desire to obtain material wealth as seen in case with Mahavira, Buddha, Adi Shankarachrya, Ramakrishna etc. Hence question of material wealth with this type of Adhyatmik person does not arise.
    5. Common people of Bharat(Enterprising people) who tries to gain material success, Most do not gain success as desired by them due to 1) lack of mental Brahmacharya and 2) lack of truthfulness in day-to-day affairs 3) failure to prevent negative thoughts entering his mind(lack positive attitude).
Dear sir, Your above article gave much-needed clarification. Thanks.

The biggest problem faced by a sadhak in accumulating wealth in India is attributed to dissipation of all energy in non virtuous deeds, that result from parliamentarian form of government. Due to greed inherent in most politicians, people do not get their due.

Due to inherent Chintan the seeker gets his due and progresses adhyatmically but owing to political interference in almost all walks of life, family suffers. In the west the interference by politicians at grassroot level is totally absent, hence material progress !

The negative thoughts that disturb every seeker in Bharat result from corrupt system of governance, something missing in West. Only administrators of the stature of Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose can improve the society.
