In Hinduism, there is no English equivalent of adhyatma. Adhyatma can never be termed as spirituality. In this article we shall be using Sanatana Dharma terminology, adhyatma for spirituality and Atman for spirit. Becoming more spiritual, adhyatmik demands our becoming more and more truthful day by day, following path of satya! Unless we can do that, we can never become adhyatmik, no matter what!
Most seekers in present times do not follow path of satya, prime reason why they do not succeed becoming a true adhyatmik person. In fact satya directly represents the creator Brahm. Technically speaking people in West being nearer to truth, can adapt to adhyatmik way of life more easily compared to those living in Bharat. The glow on the faces of people living in West stems from the fact that they are more truthful than their counterparts living in Bharat.
Most people in Bharat in present times advocate that they are adhyatmik whereas they are not. We just cannot confuse ourselves between adhyatma and path of Dharma. Both Dharma and adhyatma represent altogether different meaning. Initially we must try to understand the hidden inner meaning of Dharma and adhyatma. With passage of time most Indians relate Dharma to religion which is wrong. Both religion and Dharma are two different concepts having different meaning and connotation.
Just to understand the difference between religion, adhyatma and Dharma… I took exactly 15 years. I had been searching for the answers since long and all of a sudden after 15 years at 22 years of age, the exact difference between the three dawned on me. After the distinction between the three became clear, my adhyatmik journey progressed faster, rather with leaps and bounds.
Amongst 9000 million people existing in world day, I have not yet been able to find a single person who could spell to me the difference between the three, even after passage of almost 65 years. I went in pursuit of Brahm five years of age. No matter how big a following a so-called guru in present times may have, none exactly understands the true meaning of word adhyatma, Dharma and even religion.
Why I say this stems from the fact that if we can differentiate between religion, Dharma and adhyatma – it would take only 12 years to reach level of Swami Vivekananda and further two years more to become a Ramakrishna Paramhansa in present life.
The prime requisites to pursue adhyatma in present life are –
1. Following path of truthfulness, Satya.
2. Indulging in dhyana as I have detailed in the given below video. The best way to indulge in dhyana is via contemplation, spelled chintan in Hinduism. All my life right from 12 years of age I indulged in chintan via path of self inquiry, neti as practiced and preached by Maharshi Ramana. In total I took 32 years to reach Brahm and this happened in 1993 at 37 years of age. As per Sanatana Dharma this is my last manifestation, last yoni!
If we can practice dhyana exactly as detailed in the video, one would take exactly 12 years to reach state of Swami Vivekananda and further two years more to reach state of Ramakrishna Paramhansa.
3. Practicing brahmacharya for a period of 12 years in continuation as detailed in the video given below, makes one reach state of Swami Vivekananda and finally Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Correct practice of brahmacharya channelizes all our energies towards activation of kundalini shakti, the serpentine energy lying coiled in the base of spine.
Other prerequisites necessary to becoming adhyatmik are – having full faith in the existence of Brahm termed shraddha in Hinduism, belief in self that we can cover this journey in this very life itself.
