An enlightened person worked for welfare of mankind all the time. Enlightenment is reached scuttling karma to zero, demolishing five senses and mind forever. How could an enlightened one engage in physical pursuits of life?
Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed, Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana are examples of that. Furthermore in the last about 150 years amongst 7000 million people existing world over only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in gaining enlightenment in their lifetime.
