Human evolution does not relate to human population or its increase! The maximum a human being could evolve was reaching stage of enlightenment and finally moksha salvation. How difficult gaining enlightenment was… in the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching god.
Becoming a man God like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed was the end goal of life for human beings on mother earth. We can do it now in present life or leave it for future manifestations. In Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna explicitly says every single human being on mother earth had the spark of divinity within to reach stage of enlightenment and finally moksha salvation.
