As long as Arjuna thought of himself as a physical manifest human being… he was not prepared to fight his enemies, the Kauravas consisting of his maternal grandfather Bhishma Pitamah, Guru Dronacharya and other close relatives and friends. After hearing sermon of Bhagavad Gita from Lord Krishna, moment Arjuna realized that he was not a manifest physical human being but a soul atman on its cosmic journey of 8.4 million manifestations… he prepared himself to fight his enemy head-on.
Realizing essence of continuity of life in cosmic system, Arjuna prepared self to fight battle of Dharma (righteousness) against the evil Kauravas! The sermon of Bhagavad Gita made Arjuna reach stage of enlightenment. It was only then he understood cosmic crux of life.
