As civilizations progressed ahead… the need for human beings to go to inner reaches of Himalayas for living life of a recluse… a hermit was not necessitated! It is apparent if we study life of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana… the two spiritual stalwarts who reached stage of self realization in their lifetime.
Both these spiritual masters never went to Himalayas to realize their true inner self… search for god! In the initial stages of life… both realized that God Almighty existed in our heart in miniscule form… as our soul atman, the consciousness within! Remaining wherever we are, irrespective of the condition… one could easily travel spiritual path and reach god in present life!
In times of Gautama Buddha… the practice of going to deep dense jungles (forests) for purpose of yoga meditation was a normal routine! When Siddhartha Gautama could not reach his true inner self in the confines of jungles (deep dense forests) and also while living in family… he advocated following middle path! But in present times… one could practice yoga meditation even while living in family!
Bhagavad Gita has accorded highest status to a yogi who reaches god while living in family! Practicing yoga meditation in family life is difficult… very difficult, but not impossible! One only needs bulldog determination exhibited by Swami Vivekananda… the famous disciple saint of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa! In present times… genuine spiritual masters are not to be found!
It is an absolute fact of life… that in last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over… only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching God in their lifetime! Reaching God… gaining enlightenment, reaching stage of self realization was not that easy! Path of spirituality demands highest level of perfection that could ever be practiced by human beings!
Mahavira… 24th Tirthankara of Jainism (preceptor) rightly said… do not preach unless you become an enlightened one! In present times there is no dearth of self proclaimed religious teachers imparting half baked theories to gullible mankind. Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism says… the path of spirituality is always travelled all alone! Guru or no guru… the teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita come to our rescue!
